Other information

Myocardial Infarction patients are referred for cardiac rehabiliation on basis of an elevated troponin.

Since the beginning of November 2007 cardiac surgery patients are seen briefly on the ward by a cardiac rehabilitation nurse and they then receive a follow call 2 weeks after discharge inviting them to participate in the cardiac rehabilitation programme.

Angioplasty patients are required to self-refer. They are given contact details whilst an inpatient.

Heart Failure patients are not routinely accepted. Referrals from a cardiologist or heart failure specialist nurse will be considered.

ICD patients are not routinely accepted but referral from a cardiologist or specialist nurse will be considered. Patients who have an ICD inserted following Myocardial Infarction should automatically be referred to the programme.
