About the Programme
Cardiac Rehabilitation is primarily aimed at people who have had an acute event such as Myocardial Infarction or those who have had cardiac surgery such as CABG or valve surgery and people who have had Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). The programme takes place in a private gym in Caerphilly and consists of suitable supervised exercise, stress management and education on their condition and about making lifestyle changes. The team consists of Nurses, Physiotherapist, Exercise Instructors and Admin support. The Pharmacist and Dietician attend the programme to deliver a information talk once during the 8 week programme.

What to expect when you come
|
Once the team have received the referral, they will telephone the person to introduce themselves, discuss any concerns or worries and inform them of the programme. A pre programme assessment date is discussed on the telephone which is confirmed with a letter. Patients attend for a pre programme assessment usually 2-3 weeks post MI or PCI and 4-6 weeks post cardiac surgery. The assessment will take pace at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr in Ystrad Mynach.
