About the Programme

We will usually meet you first on the wards when you are admitted to hospital and explain a little about the programme then. We will then send an appointment for you to attend our clinic and choose where you would like to attend your classes, as there is a choice of venues. We offer a choice of attending supervised exercise classes once a week for 8 weeks or a home based rehab programme which involves following an exercise DVD (see separate listing for futher information). We also run education sessions on a regular basis to give you more information about how to look after your heart.

What to expect
when you come

We are a friendly team who will work with you to help you achieve your goals. The atmosphere in the classes is lighthearted and fun. You will meet up with other patients who share similar experienes and most patients find they really enjoy the course.

How long does it take

From the day you have your problem or from when we first hear about you, it will be about 4 weeks until your first appointment. Prior to the appointment you will have our contact details should you require advice or support. At the appointment we will discuss with you what you would like to achieve. You would usually start the classes the following week, and attend once a week for up to 8 weeks. After you complete the programme we would strongly suggest you join a local exercise venue to help you keep active. We can supply a list of local sites who have cardiac trained instructors and help you with this.
