About the Programme

We provide patients with a hospital based exercise and education programme. We initially make contact by telephone then offer a face to face appointment to discuss which programme would suit the patient's needs. Patients can choose either a hospital based programme or home programme.Patients are also offered a community venue if it is more convenient.

Assessments and classess run Monday to Thursday at various times.

What to expect
when you come

An assessment takes up to one hour and you will be seen by a Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse Specialist and Physiotherapist, you may undertake an functional capacity test which would be a 6 minute walk or a step test. We ask you to wear comfortable clothing for this assessment.

How long does it take

We offer an 8 week exercise course, however this is negotiable if patients goals are achieved then less weeks may be required, alternatively if the patient feel they need extra time, more weeks will be offerred.

General information

Classess are mixed sex. We accept patient's of all ages and range of physical abilities.

We hold an Education Exhibition every 8 weeks, patients and significant others are invited to attend, we have Multi-Disciplinary team members avliable to offer advice. Also 'UPBEAT' our local patient support group will be in attendance to offer advice and support.

We also have access to a Psychological Therapist, therefore if a patient is suffering from low mood or an anxiety dissorder a referral may be considered.
